PAT GELSINGER
voluntarily ‘retired’ from Intel on December 2, 2024. There are rumors that he was effectively pushed out the door—that Intel’s board of directors wanted him out, and had lost confidence in his ability to effectively lead the company back to profitability. Replacing Gelsinger as interim co-CEOs are David Zinsner and Michelle Johnston Holthaus.
Certainly, Intel’s stock price has taken a beating over the past few years, though it was obvious when he took the reins that the company needed to make some major changes.
