■BENDERLOCH’S Bookends Festival is to start a new chapter – thanks to a share of £28,893. Festival organisers put in the smallest bid of just £495 to Argyll and Bute Council's Supporting Communities Fund.
Now they have been awarded the cash, plans are under way to set up monthly pop-up sessions in the village’s Victory Hall using the love of books to bridge the generation gap.
People in Oban, Lorn and the Isles had until the end of April to vote on how they wanted money allocated to the supporting communities fund to be spent in their area.
