Saints dump unbeaten Salvesen to march on in the Scottish Cup

Scottish Cup – fourth round

SAINTS made a rare journey east to Edinburgh last Saturday where they successfully booked their place in the Scottish Amateur Cup fifth-round draw.

Manager Alex Craik’s team selection plans received a setback when ever-presents Willie Gemmell and Marc Maccallum had to call off due to work commitments and illness respectively. Also missing from the squad was the influential Donnie Campbell.

However, the omens were good when the captain’s armband was handed to Paul Kerr, who has a 100 per cent record as stand-in skipper.

Hosts Salvesen were an unknown quantity for Saints. However, their current 16-match winning streak marked them out as potentially very difficult opponents for last season’s beaten semi-finalists.
