BEER
Bitter end
THE sale of the Ringwood Brewery site in Hampshire in mid-October to a property developer brings a sad end to an important page in the history of craft brewing in Britain.
Ringwood was proudly independent until Marston’s bought it in 2007. In 2020, Carlsberg swallowed up Marston’s, with the Danish brewer controlling 60 percent of the new Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company (CMBC). Since then CMBC has closed four breweries in the former Marston’s group: Jennings, Banks’s, Wychwood and Ringwood.
