Mirror
as it kicked off copious coverage of its annual Pride of Britain Awards last week.
But this year’s shindig, broadcast on ITV, took place against the backdrop of a massive redundancy process at the paper, with hacks awaiting news on whether they will be among 40 to be dispensed with. The lucky few who are left have been told they will have to work different shift patterns, giving up more of their evenings and weekends. They were also busy balloting on whether to take strike action, with over 95 per cent voting in favour last week.
