Contractors commence Foynes line tracklaying
Route targeted for reopening by early 2026.

THE first track was laid on the Limerick to Foynes line in early May from acompound established by specialist Portuguese tracklaying subcontractors Stenconfer at Glenbane East near milepost 24, close to Foynes.
Aloading gantry was seen assembled on site on April 20 to allow rails to be loaded onto a Road Rail Vehicle (RRV) for delivery for to the work site.
The Iarnród Éireann (IÉ) project manager delivering the project told The RM that the scheme was on target and on budget to allow trains to start running in early 2026.
