EVER since she she can remember, Chrysta Bell Zucht – now known simply as Chrystabell – has been embroiled in the vivid alternate realities of David Lynch. As a child, she would hear her parents reciting dialogue from Eraserhead to one another; as a teenager, she was transfixed by Twin Peaks. In the late 1990s, she was performing in the swing band 8½
Souvenirs when she was introduced to the director via an agent. The pair quickly hit it off and soon began working together. Chrystabell featured on the soundtrack to Lynch’s 2006 film Inland Empire before the pair collaborated on 2011 album This Train; she also had a recurring role as an FBI agent in Twin Peaks: The Return. Their creative partnership runs so deep that Chrystabell describes Lynch as her “mentor in art, music and life”.
