June 2, 1941: Born in University College Hospital, London
December 25, 1955: Receives his first drumkit having previously converted a banjo into a snare drum
1958: Joins local jazz band Jo Jones All-Stars. Goes on to play with other jazz bands, including American saxophonist Don Byas in Denmark
March 17, 1962: First gig with Alexis Korner’s Blues Incorporated at Ealing Jazz Club, playing with Brian Jones for the first time the following week
