OLIVER’S ARMY is on its way

Jamie Oliver’s latest crusade is to get the nation cooking healthy, affordable meals, using clever swaps and tweaks. Here he shares stay-healthy tips and two tasty budget midweek meals

IT’S 19 YEARS since Jamie Oliver first hit our TV screens as the cheeky young ‘pukka’ Naked Chef, and 13 years since the ground-breaking Jamie’s School Dinners documentary that forced Turkey Twizzlers off canteen menus. Along the way, he’s also tackled youth unemployment with his Fifteen chain of restaurants and even had a punt at solving the USA’s obesity crisis. Currently, he’s the UK’s high-profile campaigner for a sugar tax and for his #NotForChildren campaign to restrict the selling of sugary caffeinated drinks to children. No wonder Healthy Food Guide readers voted him their health hero in this year’s Best of Health Awards. And, at 43, the father of five kids aged from two to 16, businessman with an MBE and now nutritionist, shows no sign of letting up on his public health mission. This time he’s teamed up with Tesco to get customers cooking meals from scratch that are healthy, delicious, easy to make and, above all, affordable.
