‘Gliding’ is not something I often associate with trail running. Stumbling, trudging, or slipping are the words that come to mind first! But these Ultraglide shoes definitely got me closer to that controlled, smooth ride. From the squeak of the outsole on my hall floor as I pulled them on, I knew they were going to be grippy, which they immediately demonstrated on muddy banks and puddles. Not that I could feel the challenging terrain; these shoes are more cushioned than other trail shoes I’ve tried, making for a comfortable and bouncy run regardless of what is underfoot. These are also the first Quicklace shoes that I’ve used, and I appreciated the extra-secure fit they offered, as well as a welcome lack of wet laces flicking mud up my leg. Overall, these shoes made me feel like a Proper Trail Runner, being able to enjoy the view rather than worry about how my shoes would handle the terrain.
