At the start of the pandemic, most magazines requested writers not to submit Covid-19 related stories, as it was felt readers would welcome a break from the topic in fiction. Most writers welcomed this, as it’s very difficult to write uplifting stories about such a serious and worrying situation, and even harder to make these accurate in the face of constantly changing rules and long magazine lead times.
