Circles’ roundup: Home improvements
Give group members an assignment to complete at home to boost motivation and productivity, suggests Julie Phillips
In this busy world there are only so many hours in the day. It’s a phrase that echoes across the land – that people wish they had more hours in the day or more days of the week. Sadly it’s not possible and we have to make do with the time we have. Time is at a premium and with the best will in the world you won’t be able to fit everything into your writing group meetings that you’d like to. In order to steal a few more minutes for your writing group, could it be time to consider handing out homework?
We all remember our own school days where homework was seen as a chore and we would do almost anything to try and get out of doing it. The sun was shining outside but we still had 25 maths calculations to do before school the next day – a true definition of frustration. Homework for your writing group doesn’t have to be that way. It should be fun and something that will inspire and motivate members to sit down, write and improve.
