Some jaw-dropping mid-20th century advice for wives – concerning such matters as serving hubby’s dinner on time – were unearthed by The Daily Mail.
Here’s a sample of the tips from the Rev AH Tyrer in his 1951 manual Sex Satisfaction And Happy Marriage:
‘A social service meeting, an afternoon tea, a matinee, a whatnot, is no excuse for there being no dinner ready when a husband comes home from a hard day’s work.’
