STAR LETTER
Picture perfect
I definitely agree with Chris Glithero that well-taken photos will back up your writing (WM, April). I started my freelance writing career three years ago by submitting an article and photos to a UK sailing magazine. My husband and I live aboard our yacht in Greece, and I have been keeping a diary, and taken many photos of the beautiful places we have visited.
Spurred on by seeing my first article and photos in print, I approached a different sailing magazine and they commissioned me to write a sixpage article and asked for a large number of goodquality photos so they could make a selection. I am not an expert photographer, but I think I have a good ‘eye’ and just use a highquality compact digital camera. One of my photos ended up being used for the front cover of the sailing magazine in which my article was also published. It was such a thrill to see my words and pictures in print on the magazine shelves.
