Author of 31 bestsellers, Carole Matthews says she was always a reader rather than a writer until she entered a Writing Magazine competition, back in 1997.
‘My story was the first thing I’d written since leaving school,’ she says. ‘I won and used the prize money to go on a writing course. The tutor recommended an agent to me, I was taken on straight away and my book sold within a week. So I had a very swift entry to the world of publishing and hit the right desk at the right time.’
Carole has now been writing full-time for about sixteen years of the twenty she’s been a writer. ‘I bit the bullet, closed my beauty business, and opted to throw my lot into becoming a full-time writer. It seemed to work out okay.
