Brazilian start-up Itapemirim Transportes Aéreos (ITA) – part of the Itapemirim Group – was poised to start operations on June 29, as Airliner World went to press, with an inaugural rotation between São Paulo/Guarulhos and Brasília. The carrier has bold plans after revealing intentions to serve 35 domestic destinations by June 2022. Fleet-wise, ITA will initially field five 162-seat Airbus A320ceos, before aiming to ramp up to 20 by the end of 2021, while in the first half of 2022 it’s mooted to take five examples per month, totalling up to 50 jets by June 2022.
