There’s been a lot of talk about maintainer burnout. Many projects have a single maintainer who works in a hobbyish capacity. Over time, their project becomes popular and derives paying customers. The developer starts experiencing the demands of large numbers of users who expect more than the developer can offer in terms of their time. The demands come to a head and the developer has to look out for their own wellbeing, day job, family, whatever else is going on.
