In 1982, Simple Minds were on the cusp of global success. The singles from New Gold Dream: Promised You A Miracle, Glittering Prize and Someone Somewhere (In Summertime), were as polished as they were epic. At the same time, something of the post-punk experimentation of earlier years remained. It’s a fascinating period in the Minds’ odyssey, revisited here for Sky Arts’ Greatest Albums Live series. A fine recording, with enough variations on the original to stop this being the Minds acting as their own tribute act.
