The Opera browser is approaching its 30th birthday, but it’s still innovating. Its latest version, Opera One R2, was released in October, and has several excellent new features, including a split-screen view that shows two web pages side by side and a pop-out player that plays music and videos in the background. Here, we’ll explain how to set up the latest version of Opera and make the most of these fantastic new tools.
1 STEP
Download Opera One R2 for free from www.opera.com. When 1 prompted to share your usage information, click Options, then untick ‘Help improve Opera by sending feature usage information’ 1 . We’ve also unticked the option to ‘Run when my computer starts’ 2 . Click ‘Accept and Install’ 3 and Opera will ask about data sharing again. If you still don’t want to do this, click ‘Configure in settings’ and untick all four options for processing and using your data, then click ‘Confirm choices’. When Windows’ Settings appears, click the ‘Set default’ button next to ‘Make Opera your default browser’. Follow the onscreen instructions, choosing your preferred options.
