IT’S BEEN ALMOST 30 years since Happy Gilmore turned Adam Sandler from SNL star into movie A-lister virtually overnight (and which, along with Billy Madison, inspired the name of his production company, Happy Madison). Yet a sequel felt inevitable; from the moment Sandler first raised his club in anger as the titular ice-hockey player (with rage issues) turned golf player (with rage issues), his petulant screen persona meshed perfectly with the film’s endlessly quotable dialogue (“I eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast”/ “You eat pieces of shit for breakfast?”).
