In Hollywood terms, the
Magnolia
filmmaker has never been a big spender.
Over the course of his career, the director has conjured some of the greatest films ever made without ever exceeding a budget of $40 million. That frugal track record looks set to end with his next outing. Budget estimates for his yet-to-be-named feature, which wrapped shooting in September, have ranged from $140 million up to $175 million, putting PTA almost in Marvel territory.
