Time Capsule
Daisy Ridley
THE MAGPIE STAR ON THE IMAGES OF HER CAREER (SO FAR)
WORDS CHRIS HEWITT
DAISY RIDLEY’S COME a long way since she made her debut riding a ghost train and pretending to choke on a sweet in Casualty in 2013. “We were filming in Cardiff and I was staying in a hotel, and it was so mind-boggling to me,” she laughs. Since then, the British actor has anchored a Star Wars trilogy and used her clout to make a string of indies like this month’s psychological thriller, Magpie. “I haven’t made that many movies,” she admits —usually a problem for Time Capsule. But not only are these significant movies, “It’s quite nice, because most of them I have quite strong memories of.” So, let the memories flow…
THREE FOR SORROW
MAGPIE (2024)
“What comes back to me is the horrible guilt I felt in this scene, if people have seen the movie, knowing what transpires. This is the first time my character, Anette, and Matilda Lutz’s character, Alicia, the two women in this triangle with Shazad Latif, are really meeting. I was looking forward to this. Actually, it was really quite fun, and it was such a beautiful evening. The road was supposed to be locked down and that car in the distance slipped through. So much of us wanting to do a film-within-the-film was because we love movies, and we wanted that feeling of making a movie and being on a set and in trailers.”
