IN HIS AVATAR franchise so far, James Cameron has put all of Pandora’s residents through the wringer. But in the ongoing battle between the native Na’vi and the humans invading their planet, one character has sacrificed more than any other: Zoe Saldaña’s Neytiri. Wife of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), and mother to their children, Neytiri is a former tsakarem (spiritual leader) of the Omatikaya clan who has given up her home and her birthright, and (spoiler alert for Avatar: The Way Of Water) witnessed the brutal death of her eldest child Neteyam (Jamie Flatters) at the hands of the humans. All in an effort to keep her family — primarily Jake — safe.
