If lockdown has taught us anything, it’s that independent, local businesses are the lifeblood of our food and drink culture – and there’s never been a more important time to support them. Indeed, as part of the Great British Food Awards 2020 we’re championing standout producers from across the UK, and our host of incredible winners on p.141 should offer tonnes of
inspiration for your festive shopping. Whether that’s smoked
salmon or fresh oysters from your favourite fishmonger
(p.126), locally-made craft gin (p.88) or the most delicious
English sparkling wine (p.169), there’s no shortage of topquality
foodie treats to enjoy – and gift – this winter.
