A CUP classic played out in testing conditions was finally put to bed after 85 minutes as Gareth Gale streaked in from his own half to send Featherstone through at the expense of lacklustre Wakefield.
The soggy conditions didn’t exactly make it conducive for playing freeflowing rugby and Caleb Aekins did superbly well to deal with two towering Mason Lino kicks early on.
An injury to Jack Bussey in the fifth minute didn’t help Rovers, but the hosts sill had the first chance of the game when Connor Wynne was hit high to yield a penalty.
