INDUSTRIOUS EAGLES HAVE EDGE -JUST
IAN RIGG Heywood Road, Saturday
SHEFFIELD were made to fight all the way as Swinton were thwarted by solid defence late on.
The Lions had a good first half and were the better team, taking a 6-4 lead into the break.
It could have been a wider advantage, but Alan Kilshaw’s side couldn’t finish some good chances, failing through handling errors or the Eagles’ rearguard efforts.
And early in the second half, Swinton were on the wrong side of a high penalty count.
Sheffield forced a goal-line drop-out from their opening set, and from that, Eddie Battye went close, but lost the ball near the line.
