Apple’s trio of iWork apps have most bases covered, with Pages as a word processor and layout tool, Numbers on spreadsheets duty, and Keynote for presentations. There’s even the ability to collaborate with others on documents via iCloud. The problem is that, in the real world, the vast majority of businesses use either Microsoft 365 (with Teams integration) or the purely online–based Google Workspace. And, despite the latter’s inroads in recent years, the Microsoft Office apps are still the de facto standard when it comes to file formats for sharing documents with colleagues and others. In addition, Microsoft 365’s suite of six productivity apps generally offer more advanced features and tools than the iWork trio. Note that while you can use Microsoft 365’s web apps for free, they have limited functionality in comparison to the full versions.
