THE BOTTOM LINE
A promising to–do list app with lots of clever concepts, but there’s room to improve.
+ Excellent design

STUFF IS AN app built to organize all the, well, stuff in your life using reminders and to–do lists. While its pleasing design belies impressive functionality, it’s not a must–buy yet. Stuff is designed around simplicity, with a layout that’s clean and attractive with bold fonts and bright colors. Adding new entries is quick and easy —just tap the “+” in the bottom–right corner to create a task, list or space (the latter groups tasks and lists into one section). Stuff is full of other neat touches, with haptics and animations put to good use. Yet you shouldn’t mistake its simplicity for a lack of features. We like how it uses both deadlines and planned dates. A planned date is when you want to carry out the task, which can be sooner or later than its deadline. That means you can use Stuff as a schedule for work assignments. You can also set the deadline to “someday”, giving you more flexibility. Dependencies are another selling point. If a task is dependent on another, you won’t be able to complete it until the original task has been done. That lets you create lists of cascading tasks that unlock one after the other, and it’s a nifty way to link sequential tasks into a flow chart-style system.
