Days gone by – Braes piper’s success

This week’s flashback photograph comes from the files of The Oban Times. In January 1976, Oban Times readers were getting used to – and enjoying – the new bridge that opened at Ballachullish, ending centuries of ferry service. Walking across the bridge and admiring the views was a novelty. Mrs Margaret Murphie, Fort William, met Mr ETF Spence, Ledaig, on Ballachullish Bridge a week after it opened. Digital versions of flashback photos for The Oban Times can be sent to editor@obantimes.co.uk or prints sent to the editor, The Oban Times, PO Box 1, Oban PA34 4HB. Anyone who wishes a print returned should include a stamped-addressed envelope.
