INFESTATION
AMIGA, VARIOUS • 1989
◼︎ What’s interesting about
Infestation
is that it doesn’t offer a great deal more in the way of gameplay than the similar 3D title
Driller. But where that earlier effort was developed around the limitations of 8-bit computers,Infestationwas designed for the Amiga, and as such it’s an altogether faster, slicker and more immersive experience. It starts on a planet’s surface where you have to activate a transporter and beam down to an alien-infested research colony. The aliens attack long before you get there, although you have a jetpack with limited fuel that allows you to stay out of their reach. Once in the colony, you find yourself in a maze of corridors populated by alien eggs and their guardians, plus objects that you have to find a use for.
