STUART’S FIRST ADVENTURE
On writing for Amstrad Action
Before Stuart began working for videogame studios, he made a name for himself writing Amstrad Action’s adventure column. Or at least, he made a name for the Balrog, the pseudonym he used throughout his time on the magazine.
Starting in October 1989 when he was just 17 years old, he took over from another writer who called themselves The Pilgrim. “I’d eagerly read the column each month to stay updated on the text adventure game scene,” Stuart says. Then something caught his eye.
