BLISS TBC
OUT 5 FEBRUARY PRIME VIDEO
You can’t fault Mike Cahill for ambition. With his third movie, the lo-fi sci-fi auteur behind Another Earth (2011) and I Origins (2014) has delivered his most audacious effort yet. Alas, the extravagant ideas in Bliss suggest the director should’ve stuck to his streamlined sensibilities. Owen Wilson plays a depressed divorcee who’s taught how to reboot reality by an eccentric homeless woman (Salma Hayek on charming form). Essentially a digital-age Fisher King, its themes of love and redemption get lost among heavy exposition and self-indulgent gambits.
