Based on a true story about the healing skills of a cheeky magpie in a world turned upside-down, this slight cockle-warmer could fly for Covid-coping audiences where it may have floundered in more ‘normal’ circumstances. It follows sporty Aussie mum-of-three Sam Bloom (Naomi Watts) who, after being left paralysed and subsequently depressed by a holiday accident, is reluctantly lifted back into family life by the arrival of an injured magpie named Penguin. The bird is entertaining while Andrew Lincoln provides solid warmth as Sam’s husband. Sweet.
