This wry, heartwarming remake of 2015’s craggy Icelandic tale of feuding sheep-farming brothers (originally directed by Grímur Hákonarson) glows with Aussie bush heat and smalltown humour. But director Jeremy Sims (Last Cab To Darwin) lays in poignancy alongside black comedy, as quiet Colin (Sam Neill) decides to outwit the authorities when a rare sheep disease ravages the valley. Michael Caton’s drunken and worrisome reprobate of a brother sparks nicely off Neill, who gives his best performance for years in a film perfectly attuned to his style of gruff determination.
