BEAT PYRAMID
ANGULAR/DOMINO, 2008 While their musical contemporaries copped moves from Joy Division and Gang Of Four, TNP’s debut felt more like a hybrid of PiL and Cabaret Voltaire, topped off with the quasi-mystical proclamations and cryptic barked wisdom of a young Mark E Smith. The lyrics sometimes appeared to satirise the whole idea of being in a band, hence why their ‘indie disco’ era didn’t last long. 7/10
