THE JOURNEY
A Small Faces timeline
FEBRUARY 1967
After two years at Decca, Small Faces sign to Immediate. The group’s first single for their new employers is the drug-referencing “Here Come The Nice”, which somehow escapes a BBC ban.
JUNE 1967
Second album Small Faces, marked by a shift from mod-friendly R&B to psychedelic pop, is released. It peaks at No 12 in the UK.
AUGUST 1967
Mostly written by Ronnie Lane, “Itchycoo Park” – groundbreaking in its use of studio flanging – climbs into the UK Top 3. It becomes the band’s only American Top 20 hit.
