Councillors will look again at holding a consultation on a new stand-alone Gaelic primary school in Oban, after a feasibility study paid for by parents recommended it.
Argyll and Bute Council offers Gaelic medium education (GME) via dedicated classes at seven of its primary schools: Rockfield in Oban, Strath of Appin, Salen and Bunessan on Mull, Tiree, Bowmore and Sandbank in Dunoon.
But the Rockfield Gaelic unit’s parent council (Comann nam Pàrant an Òbain) is campaigning for an immersive Gaelic school in Oban, citing booming interest locally, with 50 pupils squeezed into two classrooms last year.
