Pitch perfect
‘I wrote my first published story in1958 for my school magazine,’ writes subscriber SB Borgersen.
‘Then followed a dearth in creativity as I pursued my education and careers involving, at best, writing technical documentation and reports.
‘Twenty years ago I took a creative writing course at my local community college. Everything changed. My dormant imagination was unleashed. Since then my short stories, flash and micro fictions, and poems have been published in literary journals and magazines, including some shortlistings in WM and gosh, my prize winning sonnet in 2017. WM gave me more confidence to keep on writing.

‘In 2019, after studying a shortlist of publishers in the micro/flash fiction genre, I prepared my pitch packs with cover letter, story samples, biography, and market potential.
‘And I was lucky. I found a publisher whose swift response was enthusiastic with, “Just what we are looking for,” and my journey began.
