AZERBAIJAN AIRLINES has outlined plans to acquire a further four Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners after signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the US manufacturer. "We were the first airline in the Caspian and Central Asia region to operate the 787-8,” said the airline’s president, Jahangir Asgarov. “This MOU is the evidence of joint efforts to scale up the mutually beneficial partnership between Azerbaijan Airlines and Boeing. Over the years, our 787 airplanes have provided impeccable performance, and the addition of more long-haul airplanes will further expand the geography of our route network.” The Baku-based flag carrier currently operates two Dreamliners, both of which were delivered in 2014, but has expressed a desire to grow its fleet to ten by 2030.
