Many of us run to stay stress-free – and new UK research suggests it’s a winning strategy! Our memory works best when the synapses (connections) between brain neurons are strong. This strengthening is called long-term potentiation (LTP), but stress weakens the synapses, decreasing LTP and impacting memory. When you run, the LTP stays higher. Smart.
