13,900 self builds
AMA Research estimates that nearly 14,000 self commissioned homes were completed in 2020. This is despite the pandemic and, yet again, proves that oneoff bespoke house building is more robust than the wider property market when the economy is struggling. Self builders are continuing to commission high-quality homes that will meet their needs over the long term. The sector looks poised to go from strength to strength with newly allocated government funding and more initiatives to further encourage this route.
