Adding eight mixes for its 30th anniversary edition, the original queens of vocal harmonies’ debut album is still a mighty powerhouse. My Lovin’ and Free Your Mind paved the way for TLC and Destiny’s Child, and there’s plenty more in that class elsewhere. Love Don’t Love You continued the funk, while Giving Him Something He Can Feel wrapped the quartet’s titanic vocals around a sensual ballad and Desire showed that they could branch out into roots music, too. Still sounding a cut above, so much modern R&B started right here.
