WET LEG
WET LEG
DOMINO
★★★★
Venerable indie Domino has always had an ear for artists with offbeat but immediate crossover potential, the kind who – whether Pavement, Franz Ferdinand or Arctic Monkeys – are as irresistible to students as the jaded middle-aged. Now they’ve landed the Isle Of Wight’s Wet Leg, a band so popular they’ve had songs covered already. But though, for instance, Sprints’ Chaise Longue is faithful, it can’t match the intangible charms of Rhian Teasdale’s and Hester Chambers’ original, barnstorming debut, because here’s the crux: this duo ooze an unusual, invincible charisma which combines ennui with energy to impressive effect.
