UK Govt drops request for Apple user data, says US spy chief
The UK Government has dropped its demand to access data of Apple users worldwide, according to Tulsi Gabbard, US director of national intelligence.
She wrote on X that after working with officials on both sides of the Atlantic the UK Government has “agreed to drop its mandate for Apple to provide a ‘back door’ that would have enabled access to the protected encrypted data of American citizens and encroached on our civil liberties” (www.snipca. com/56061).
