Pixelate sensitive info when taking screenshots
What you need: Flameshot 13
Time required: 20 minutes
Released in August, version 13 of screenshot- capture tool. Here, we explain how you can use it to obscure sensitive information such as your email address or payment details in screenshots that you need to share with others – without having to open the screenshot in an image-editing program.
To get hold of the latest version, visit www.snipca.com/55840, scroll down and click the Download Installer button.
STEP1
After installing Flameshot, it should take over the functions of the PrtSc (Print Screen) key – if you have one on your keyboard (see Step 7 if you have problems). Simply press PrtSc to capture your whole screen and open it in Flameshot. If you don’t have this button, click the up-pointing arrow on your taskbar, then click the Flameshot icon that appears in the hidden icons tray. An overlay will now show you your available options 1 . Press Ctrl+S to save the full screen to a file, or click and drag with your mouse to define the area you want to capture.
