WELLINGTON-BASED PSYCHOLOGIST TANYA FORSTER IS DRIVING CHANGE IN HEALTHCARE ACCESS FOR RURAL FAMILIES.
WORDS CLAIRE MACTAGGART PHOTOGRAPHY STEPHANIE HUNTER
Tanya enjoys a balance of working life and downtime on her family property.
Tanya Forster lives in Western NSW and, like so many parents in rural and regional areas, has seen healthcare shortages firsthand.
AT THE END OF HER WORKDAY as a psychologist in Dubbo, Tanya Forster loves returning home to her 4046-hectare property near Wellington, in Western New South Wales. Right now, the mixed farm is a riot of cheerful canola flowers framed by rolling hills and the rugged Warrumbungle Range in the distance. Tanya lives in her hilltop home with husband Sam, 43, their six-year-old son and four-year-old daughter.
“To come home of an evening and look out the window and see that space allows a sense of calm and to disconnect a little,” Tanya, 39, says. “I love what I do, but it’s also nice to have quiet time, and farm life allows that in lots of ways.”
