For any British group, headlining Wembley Stadium is a landmark gig and often the fulfilment of a long-held ambition. The four musicians in Blur, but Damon Albarn in particular, seem a little overwhelmed to have finally reached that summit tonight. There’s a moment when the frontman attempts to get the crowd to chant ‘Wembley‘ as they stumble through Parklife throwaway Lot 105. Earlier on he’d recalled watching Live Aid on TV and seeing Freddie Mercury own the place all those years ago. Albarn has seen it all and (literally, in Gorillaz) played with everyone who’s anyone, but this clearly means a lot to him.
