Across his illustrious back catalogue, Prince may have released more hard-hitting studio albums (Sign O’ The Times), or even more grandiose (Purple Rain) – but did he ever create anything as downright entertaining front-to-back as Diamonds And Pearls?
The Purple One’s 1991 pop masterpiece has always been my personal favourite of his, instantly transporting me back to a shared house at uni where the record battled for supremacy on our stereo that year alongside Nevermind, Blue Lines and Screamadelica. So the news that Prince’s team are preparing another of their stunning boxsets specifically for Diamonds And Pearls is hugely exciting.
