> That’s not a typo… JBL’s new Summit Everest speakers really do cost $100,000 a pair. For that money, you’d expect these high-end speakers to be mighty, and indeed they are. Standing 1.84x1.2x1.2m tall, each speaker weighs in at a hefty 237.2kg, and they need a 25-1,200W amplifier to power them. Luckily, each speaker is equipped with a high-frequency Sonoglass acoustic horn, a 10-inch mid-range driver, and a 15-inch low frequency driver, ensuring the speakers’ sound is capable of reaching as low as 20Hz and as high as 23kHz with a maximum sound pressure level of 126dB – that’s the same volume as when at a rock concert or hearing a symphony orchestra in full flow.
