Take control of the news with RSS

hese days, we exist in a fragmented media landscape. Once, you might have read a daily newspaper over breakfast, settled down to watch the news of an evening, and then read a magazine. Today, attention is spread across countless sources, many of which are online. And because so many websites are fighting for your attention, increasingly aggressive algorithms dictate much of what’s put in front of you. It’s easy to miss things that matter. It’s with some irony, then, that a relatively ancient technology can be a solution for cutting through the noise and dealing with the chaos. That isn’t to lob your gadgets into the trash and resolutely pretend the internet doesn’t exist. Instead, we suggest you embrace RSS (Really Simple Syndication), the initial release of which was so long ago that people really were partying like it was 1999. Because, you know, that was the year RSS came out.
